Keeping Your Dog Happy

Offering your dog a clean, healthy home, plenty of attention, good dog food and plenty of exercise will all go a long way to keep your dog happy. However, there are plenty of other ways to look at improving the health and happiness of your pet and in the majority of cases improving your own happiness at the same time.

Ultimately, the best way to keep any dog happy will be to treat them as friends. Dogs love social interaction and it can be very important to not only make sure that you offer them plenty of your own time but also, where possible, integrate them with other dogs so that they get plenty of canine interaction too.

Whilst your dog may love a good walk, the same routine and the same route day in and day out will no doubt lead to them getting bored. Try taking them new places for walks as regular as possible as most breeds of dog will love nothing more than to explore new things.

The right dog food can play a big part in making your dog happy too. Dogs are much like us and will be affected by certain things they eat. Too much junk food will lead them to feel lethargic and potentially even depressed, so where possible always try to offer them the very best quality foods.

Finally, offer them treats as often as possible. This doesn’t mean always giving them scraps of food, but instead finding the things they love and letting them do them, whether that is going out for a ride in the car, ripping up a toy or simply cuddling up with you on the sofa. The more you give them the things they enjoy and indeed a great deal of love and attention, the happier and indeed the healthier they are going to be.
