Female hair surgery

Generally speaking, male hair loss is more acceptable within society. Hair loss among women, however, is less forgiving as the glossy magazines indicate; many devoting several pages to hair care. The majority of women take their hair for granted and assume that they will only have to battle grey hairs later on in life.

Unfortunately, life is not that predictable and at some stage, women may have to face that they are suffering hair loss. A significant number will eventually seek hair surgery to restore their crowning glory.

Losing hair: especially distressing for women.

Society places a high value on the appearance of women; with particular emphasis on their hair style. The media is full of attractive actresses and presenters, most of whom seem have thick, lustrous hair. Women are encouraged to aspire to the images portrayed on television and this is reinforced by glossy magazines which endlessly bombard readers with new hair products. Unfortunately, the over-use of some of these products can cause damage and, in some cases, hair loss. This often results in women actively seeking hair restoration solutions.

Chemicals in some hair products can be particularly astringent, causing an allergic reaction and hair loss. Also, electrical styling aids can sometimes malfunction causing the hair to singe and burn, causing unwanted bald patches.

Other causes

Hair loss in women can also be caused by things like hormonal change and medication alterations. Other medical conditions such as anaemia, thyroid disease, gynaecological and post-menopausal states can all contribute towards female hair thinning. Failure to adhere to a balanced diet can also cause problems. Stress or severe emotional trauma and certain medications have a similar effect, resulting in some women seeking hair surgery.

Women who have suffered from such instances should seek advice as to their hair restoration options. After consultation, the advice may be that hair surgery is the best option.
