Guardrails are essential to improve roof safety

Not everyone gets to work in the comfort of an office. On any given day workers can look out of the window of their block in any major city and see contractors working on the roof of a neighbouring building. Come rain or shine there are guys working out there to carry out essential building and maintenance work.

This is an incredibly dangerous environment if proper safety guidelines and procedures aren’t followed and adhered to. Up there there is no margin for error. Health and safety might get a bad press, but there are far too many preventable accidents at work. Good roof safety saves lives. It’s as simple as that.

No contractors should be allowed to start any kind of job up there unless every aspect of height safety has been identified and accounted for. The biggest contributing factor towards making the roof a safer place to work is some sort of guardrail. However, even with a rail in place there’s still plenty to remain alert to when working up on the roof.

Some building owners might want to fit something permanently. After all, maintenance will be required on an on going basis, so some sort of permanent installation is going to make things easier next time out. However, there’s no need to go to all that trouble and expense to guarantee acceptable levels of roof safety if budget is more limited.

There are plenty of equipment providers who can offer rails like this for hire. Just order them in and then set them up for the duration of the work that is required and send them back again. It’s a cost effective solution that allows a business to tighten up on height safety while contractors work on their building, but without having to pay over the odds for the guardrails that are required.
