Is Raw Food Good For Pets?
More and more pet owners across the world are starting to offer their animals raw meat as part of their diet. Whilst it was once reserved only for those who wanted to find the most holistic foods for their pet, today more and more people are including some amount of raw meat in the diet of their pets.
But is it really good for cats and dogs to be consuming raw meat? After all, we ourselves will do everything we can to avoid eating raw meat unless it happens to be fish and happens to be wrapped in rice and seaweed?
The jury is still out on how healthy raw meat will be for cats and dogs, but many have found that feeding them such victuals has helped cure a wide variety of allergies that other alternatives could not aid.
Ultimately, whilst the raw pet food market is taking off in many parts of the world, other countries have been less keen to jump on the bandwagon and, in general, scientific proof of the benefit of raw meat has been hard to come by. However, much of this is to do with the fact that very few studies have been carried out to prove how effective raw meat is one way or the other.
Ultimately, raw pet food may indeed work, but it will always be worth talking about the best puppy or cat food with a vet before you commit. Different animals of different sizes and different ages, in different states of health, will benefit from having very different types of food. However, whether you choose raw or cooked food, the most important thing will always be quality and, ultimately, so long as you buy the right pet food brand, whether it is raw or not may not be all that important.
