The Importance of Perseverance in the Arts

We all know that acting is not an exact science. Individual bias, luck and even nepotism will mean that landing that dream job is not about being the very best at what you do, but will instead be about making sure you are in the right place at the right time by always putting yourself there.

Many actors find that, after months of rejection after rejection, they start to become a little disillusioned with the entire industry. It is therefore, not uncommon for even the very best of actors to simply hang up their audition speeches for good and choose a different profession with less unpredictability and confusion.

However, in the arts, perseverance can be everything, and it is not uncommon for actors to give up almost entirely and find that they are then offered a huge part in a huge film from what would otherwise have been their very last audition.

However, perseverance doesn’t preclude being able to get on with one’s life and it may be very easy for individuals to follow the same career path without the use of an agent, especially with the many technological resources on hand for all actors. From using text services to find out about auditions to simply ensuring that you send off your CV to as many casting agents as possible by finding out their details on the internet, perseverance will almost certainly pay off in the end, whether you are the most experienced actor in the world or a fledgling looking to make their mark.

Whether you supplement your income through extras work, or even simply make sure that any job you have will allow you to be flexible, it will be easy to find ways of earning money whilst you still hold on and wait for that big break that may well be right around any corner.
