The recent online publication of the personal details of a number of A-list celebrities has highlighted the need for stronger online security and the effective shredding of documents. On top of this, there are other websites that have been selling American social security numbers and birthdays for next to nothing online, giving rise to a huge number of cases of fraud. The problem is being compounded by the fact that such cases are extremely difficult to prove and even harder to prosecute.

With so much money to be made in trading and using another person’s personal details, every single one of us will need to be far more aware about how we dispose of any article containing personal information and sensitive data. However, businesses will have an even larger problem on their hands as they will not only have information about their company to dispose of, but also a huge range of information about their employees and even those they do business with that will also need to be disposed of in the safest possible way.
