Business calendars are a great promotional tool

Chances are the marketing budget has been trimmed this year, but there’s no let up in the boss’s expectations. He or she still expects results from whatever money is still left in the pot. This can leave hard pressed marketing managers scratching their heads and wondering how they are going to get the coverage and reach with their campaigns with less money to spend. It’s time to get creative.

There are plenty of low cost techniques that can generate decent returns. Mention advertising to people and they think of traditional channels like television, billboard and radio. Effective? Yes. Affordable? No.

Promotional merchandise takes a slightly different tack. By giving away useful freebies branded with logos and marketing messages, companies can achieve advertising by stealth. Take corporate calendars for example. This is a great little give away. Business calendars hang on the office wall for a whole year. That’s twelve month’s worth of free advertising. And when it comes to reach for the phone to place an order for fresh supplies, guess which provider will be at the forefront of the customer’s mind?

Business calendars offer a huge range of different possibilities. They can be fun or artistic. Either way they make for a great low cost way to reach out to new customers and stay in touch with existing ones. Of course there are other ways to do this, using products like pens, mugs and mouse mats, but none of these can match the longevity of corporate calendars.

So perhaps it’s time to draw up a new marketing plan and to incorporate an element of promotional merchandise in any new strategy. Calendars are an excellent way to promote the brand and get those marketing messages across. Time to get those thinking caps on and come up with some themes and ideas that will appeal to customers from January through to December.
