How Much Should You Spend on Furniture?
There is no hard and fast rule about how much one should spend on furniture for their home. Whilst some may suggest that a certain percentage of the value of the home is spent on furnishings, those who have a home worth many hundreds of thousands of pounds are unlikely to want to spend hundreds of thousands on a few pieces of furniture.
Instead, cost should be factored in based on what you wish to achieve. The amount you spend on such items can vary dramatically and even the most attractive and well appointed home may only need a very small amount spent on furniture.
There will be many cheap storage units and sofas online that look like they cost a great deal and spending lots more money may not actually get one anything more attractive or indeed better quality.
However, there will be certain items that will need the money spent on them. For example, if you want traditional furniture in your home, cheap reproductions are going to leave a lot to be desired and you may have to spend out a little more if you want something that is extremely attractive, comfortable and practical.
On the other hand, though, that doesn’t mean you have to spend similar amounts on all pieces of furniture and you may find that a chesterfield settee can be complimented extremely well by far cheaper furniture, something that will allow you to spend even more on those single items of furniture which truly are important for you to get right.
So there is no golden rule about how much to spend on any item of furniture. Ultimately, you can populate a room for as little or as much as you like. Just be sure that you are buying the items that are right for you, whether they be more attractive and luxurious items such as Chesterfields or cheaper items that simply look like they cost a great deal more.
