Astronomical telescopes – get closer to the stars

People have always been fascinated by the night sky. Now mankind has an even greater sense of just what is out there and its own tiny place in the vastness of the universe. A new generation of television presenters are making science and astronomy accessible for an audience eager to learn more about the stars and planets that they can see just with the naked eye. Every week they are switching people onto just how fascinating space can be and the incredible advances in science and research that are unlocking new secrets as people peer ever further, far beyond the earth’s galaxy and into the deeper reaches of the universe.

The mind boggles at what is out there. For children, telescopes can help establish a life long thirst for knowledge and interest in the universe. It’s great to have a stock of books, watch programmes and scour the Internet for extra information, but nothing can beat the actual thrill of looking through a lens that powerful and getting a better view of the stars. In an instant it’s possible to enjoy stars and planets in a very different way. For adults too it’s a great way to reconnect with childhood interests and obsessions. People never shake that sense of wonder, no matter how old they are.

Astronomical telescopes are incredibly powerful. Mounted in the right spot and with the right conditions the results can be amazing. An upper window with an unobstructed view is perfect. They’re such wonderful things to have at home. They make a lovely addition to a study or bedroom. They can be incredibly ornate, but it would be a shame just to have one on show. They’re for looking through more than looking at. Be inspired and get closer to the stars in the sky. Enjoying the wonders of the night sky is a rewarding pastime.
