Incorporating LED lighting in balustrading

Whilst regular balustrading can have myriad benefits, there are a number of additional features that can be added, one of which is LED lighting. But just how can LED lights improve your balustrades?

Safety
The most obvious benefit of LED lighting in this situation is that of safety. In the dark, balustrading with lighting can indicate where ledges and barriers are situated to prevent people from walking into them. They can also be used to highlight a particular route on a walkway for people to follow. Similarly, as balustrades can be used around escalators, the safety aspect again comes into play. If someone isn’t paying attention or even if they are visually impaired, LED lighting could alert them that they are approaching an escalator.

Aesthetics
Another big plus for LEDs is that they can look fantastic. In shops or shopping centres, using LED lighting can really have a huge visual impact on customers, whilst still retaining the aforementioned safety benefits. They can be used both indoors and outdoors to light balustrading along walkways or balconies, and can even help to illuminate products. Often, you can also choose to have various different colour LEDs, allowing you to create a particular lighting or colour effect – for example, if you are trying to light certain colour products or want to use your brand’s colours.

There are various other benefits of LEDs, such as long life, lower temperatures, compact size, and increased efficiency compared to regular bulbs. Obviously regular bulbs don’t really lend themselves to use with balustrades, but it’s just another example of the benefits LEDs can offer. In some cases, lighting can be retrospectively fitted to existing balustrading, although this will require discussion with a balustrade supplier as to the exact details.
