It’s time to invest in height safety training

Some working environments are more hazardous than others. It’s vital that workers are vigilant, responsible and well trained. Otherwise accidents can happen. Accidents that can turn out to be fatal. The importance of good health and safety at work should never be underestimated.

Working at height is one of the most dangerous tasks that any member of staff or contractor can undertake. No matter whether it’s working up on the roof or at the top of a ladder, a fall can prove to be disastrous. The sad thing is that the vast majority of incidents are entirely preventable. Safety matters.

The biggest cause of accidents is poor practice. This usually stems from a lack of awareness and training. Sometimes workers underestimate the dangers of working at height or fail to run through basic safety checks and observe procedure and best practice. There’s simply no excuse for a lack of training. It could save lives. Any business with a gap in its training provision needs to address this immediately.

Height safety courses are a great way to teach staff the basics. By attending one of these courses there will get a thorough grounding in what to look out for and plenty of tips to adjust and adapt their behaviour, so when they are presented by a potentially dangerous situation they’ll work sensibly and safely.

Letting workers operate without basic height safety training is highly irresponsible. Safety incidents impact in so many different ways. Lives are never the same again, productivity and morale suffer, and companies lose their hard earned corporate reputation. It’s vitally important to train staff to work safely at height.

Training shouldn’t be thought of an expense or a chore. It’s an investment that helps to make the workplace safer for everyone. And as more companies are finding out, good safety is good business.
