Keep first aid equipment stocked up

From time to time accidents do happen at work, no matter how careful people are. It’s just a fact of life that occasionally someone will have an accident or be taken ill. So it’s reassuring to know that on site first aiders are there to intervene should their skills be required.

First aiders need access to the right equipment so they can do their job. The first thing they will do is open up the first aid box to get to the supplies they need to stabilise and manage the situation. It’s vitally important that any organisation keeps a careful eye on levels of first aid equipment and stocks up regularly. If first aiders don’t have basic supplies then they can’t perform their role to the best of their ability.

A first aid box should contain all the things that trained first aiders need to make an effective intervention. Things like bandages for example. It’s impossible to predict when accidents will happen, but sure enough, every once in a while something will go wrong. And when it does first aiders can make all of the difference. They can deal with minor incidents and stabilise a more serious situation until professional paramedics arrive.

Every company needs to find a trusted supplier of first aid equipment, someone they can turn when they need quality value for money supplies. Scrimping and scraping by not stocking up the first aid cupboard or box regularly is only going to backfire. Health and safety at work is hugely important and every worker should be protected by their employer. It’s the responsible thing to do. In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t take much to make sure that first aid is covered. When accidents happen trained first aiders are invaluable and these guys need access to the right equipment.
