Keeping Your Windows the Right Style

Sash windows have many great benefits, letting a great deal of sunlight into the home all year round and allowing homeowners to get cooler air in on hot summer’s days. They also look great, and imbue older homes with just the right sense of style to keep them true to the period in which they were built.

However, some people feel that they also have drawbacks as such windows can be troublesome come winter. Not only do the majority of sash windows have only single glazing, but with such windows usually being larger, they offer far more area for warm air to escape through.

However, this doesn’t mean you have to look for a different style of window, and instead, when looking for replacements windows in London, you are likely to find that new sash windows can still be the best choice.

Not only will replacing older sash windows with double glazed versions allow you to retain far more heat, but it will ensure you can keep the same great period style for your home. Furthermore, there are plenty of other ways to make them even more effective at keeping the house warm over the winter.

Using a draught seal London companies can offer will be one option, as will using thicker curtains to keep even more heat in the room. By making such small simple changes, not only might your newer windows look far more attractive, but the result may give your windows many, many extra years of life at a surprisingly low cost.

The benefit of having such a window overhaul goes further though, and not only will thicker curtains and double glazed windows keep the heat in when you need it most, but they will also help to reduce noise pollution in your home, and you may even be able to add in precautions to stop sunlight fading your floors or furniture at the very same time.
