Trade Union Insurance

Many people, including members of trade unions have never heard of trade union insurance let alone understand what it is. Because trade unions are not for profit organisations, they are categorised as Mutual organisations. Over the years, they have built up close working relationships with other organisations and businesses that are run on a Mutual basis. All profits are fed back into the company rather than being given out as dividends to shareholders. This often allows mutual companies to offer high quality products at a reduced price.

Trade union insurance refers to insurance policies that can be bought by members of specific unions at a discounted rate. In most cases these discounts have been arrange with Mutual companies like UIA.

Types of Trade Union Insurance

There are several types of trade union insurance policies available. This means members of most unions can enjoy discounted home, building, contents, pet, travel and car insurance. Some companies only offer deals on some of the types of insurance they provide. However, most offer discounts on all of the different types of insurance they sell to the public.

Shopping for Trade Union Insurance

If you are a member of a trade union, speak to your rep or visit your trade unions website. These two sources will tell you which insurance companies offer additional discounts to members of your union. If you find that there are several it is worth asking for quotes from all of them and comparing quotes, as you would normally do when buying insurance.

Because the majority of companies who offer deals to Union members are Mutual bodies, their standard policies already offer exceptional value for money. With the extra discount on offer for your union membership, there is usually no point in getting quotes from other companies. However, if you are not sure about this visit a couple of insurance comparison website to double check this fact.

Trade union insurance should afford you full cover. However, as with any insurance you buy it makes sense to check the terms and conditions before signing the policy. Doing so will ensure that you buy adequate cover for your needs.

For great trade union insurance speak to UIA. They offer pet, travel, car, and home insurance to the public with further discounts for the members of many unions.
