Is a Swim Spa for You?

Water supports your body completely while you exercise. Swimming is also very good for cardio-vascular health.

Most people realise this, but not everyone has enough space for a pool or the funds to buy one. Even those that do are not always happy to give up the space and have concerns about maintaining a pool. For all of these people there is a solution and that is to buy a swim spa or endless pool.

How a Swim Spa Works

A swim spa is very similar to a hot tub or leisure spa to look at, accept that they are longer. In fact, they are built in a very similar way.

Most can in fact be used as a regular spa as well as a place to swim. They come complete with water jets and a way to heat the water. The main difference is that they are also fitted with a powerful motor, which creates a strong stream of water for the swimmer to swim against. This means that the swimmer is effectively suspended in one place while swimming, which is why the spa does not have to be very long.

The Advantages of a Swim Spa over a Pool

There are many reasons to choose a swim spa over a regular pool. Because they are smaller than a swimming pool, they take up far less space. You will also use less water and fewer chemicals. They are far quicker and easier to maintain than a regular swimming pool. They are less power hungry than a regular pool which requires the pump to be run for several hours a day even when not in use.

Because the water can be heated, you can swim at any time of the year. Best of all they can double up as spas. When not in use swim spas can be lit, they make beautiful water features. Some can be fitted with fountains and waterfalls to make them look even more attractive when not in use.
