Retail design/shop design

Retail design is at the heart of profitability

Good retail is a real art. Some stores are far more successful than others and that’s no accident. They’ve been meticulously planned and laid out. They combine commercial nous with a flair for retail design and the result is ringing cash registers and healthy profits.

Retailers are facing tough times. People have less money to spend and there’s stiff competition from online stores. Shoppers do appreciate convenience and value for money, but they also want to be entertained too. At its heart shopping is a leisure activity. People want to enjoy a day out at the shops and a bit of retail theatre will go a long way.

Retailers need to be at the top of their game right now. The high street is having a tough time, but that’s not to say it’s impossible to be successful in the current economic climate.

Shop design matters. Every store needs to freshen things up from time to time. If things have been a little quiet lately then it might be time to shake things up a little. Not every owner or manager has the skills, expertise or confidence to refresh the look and feel of their store, which is why it pays to bring in the experts.

Dedicated retail designers can breathe new life into tired shop space. They can get to work to make it look fresh, interesting and exciting, but also lay it out in such a way to maximise all commercial possibilities. Stores have hot and cold spots as shoppers make their way round. It’s important to have the right items in the hotspots and make sure staff are on hand nearby to help shoppers and secure those all important purchases. It’s amazing just what a difference a few design changes here and there can make. Freshen things up, change the layout and reap the rewards.
