When it comes to diet each dog is different

As the children start to get bigger it’s nice to add a family pet to the household. Kids love having something to look after. A dog quickly becomes part of the family.
They’re so affectionate, fun, loyal and entertaining. Most breeds are good with children and they certainly make a walk more interesting.

A dog has needs though that any responsible owner must take care of. These are animals that need plenty of love and exercise. Even smaller breeds need a few decent walks every day, no matter what the weather is like. As well as exercise they need somewhere to sleep too. A proper bed gives them the warmth and security that they need.

Then there’s diet. Owners need to give serious consideration to what their pet eats. There’s no one size fits all approach to this. Each breed and animal is different. What will suit one might not suit another. It can leave novice owners especially scratching their heads and wondering where to start.

Pet food comes in all kinds of different varieties. There’s wet food in cans and pouches, then there’s dry biscuit food. Most dogs will enjoy a balance of the two. Some meat offset with some crunchy biscuit. It’s nice to keep some treats for them too, especially during the training phase. It’s much the best way to reward them for doing something right. They’ll soon get the hang of basic commands.

At a specialist pet store the staff will be on hand to help and advise. They can help owners design the perfect diet for their pooch, which means a happy and healthy life. It’s easy to spot an animal that’s being fed properly. It will have a glossy coat, wet nose and shiny eyes. The right diet makes a massive difference. Just ask a champion breeder.
