Mums are seeking bargains online

It is no surprise that so many firms and individuals are keen to take advantage of wholesale auctions and clearance items. Many people are feeling the financial pinch and so the appeal of low-price goods is high.

One group of consumers who are eager to get their hands on bargains are mothers. According to a study conducted by Casabu in association with Mumsnet, more than eight in ten of the 1,000 mums it polled revealed they shop online for their children and themselves at least once or twice a month.

Meanwhile, they are taking advantage of a range of technology to access goods like this. As well as traditional devices like PCs, they are accessing deals via their tablets and smartphones.

Almost nine in ten of the respondents said they like to feel as though they are getting a bargain when they make purchases and 98 per cent noted they would spend less than £20 on a children’s T-shirt.

Commenting on the figures, Rachel Oxburgh, chief executive officer of Casabu, said: “This research confirms that mums are looking for great deals on exciting brands and that they will make use of the full range of technology available to ensure they don’t miss out.”

She went on to state: “Mums still want to dress their children and themselves in quality brands, but economic necessity means they want to find great deals. For example, rather than spending £50 on a pair of designer jeans for their daughter almost half of mums surveyed are looking to spend less than £10.”

Economic conditions look set to remain difficult for some time to come, so it seems likely that wholesale auctions and clearance items will be in vogue for the foreseeable future. After all, by being savvy online, individuals can benefit from some impressive bargains.
