Wildfox takes inspiration from Clueless

Wildfox clothes have won fans around the globe. The firm offers a range of garments that can appeal to fashionistas everywhere.

Those with a penchant for the brand may be interested to note that it has taken inspiration for its latest collection from 90s teen film Clueless. According to a Daily Mail report, the LA label has taken ideas from the hit movie to help create its spring collection.

T-shirts and knits featured in the collection include some of the film’s most memorable lines, including ‘Shopping is my cardio’, ‘Whatever’ and ‘As If!’.

Wildfox has also used models that bear an “uncanny resemblance to lead characters Cher, Dionne and Tai”, the news source claimed.

Clueless came out in 1995 and was very loosely based on the plot of the Jane Austen novel Emma.

Each of the images in Wildfox’s new lookbook reflects a scene from the film. For example, one shot is set up to look like the moment in which Cher and Dionne first meet Tai and describe her as ‘so adorably clueless’.

The label’s designer Kimberly Gordon said: “I have always wanted to express something creatively that is more than just fashion, it’s a feeling, a lifestyle, it’s about being a girl. It’s capturing a moment.”

She added: “I think I felt it first when I was about 12 around when Clueless came out and I was so in love with the characters, I didn’t just love the clothes, I loved the girls who wore the clothes – which made me want to wear them even more.”
