Women shopping for handbags in secret

It is a well known fact that many women love shopping for handbags, but it seems as though some are doing this in secret.

According to research conducted by NetVoucherCodes.co.uk, 85 per cent of the female consumers it polled admitted to indulging in retail therapy without their partner’s knowledge, the Daily Mail reports. Meanwhile, nearly eight in ten couples (79 per cent) stated they regularly buy items without telling their other halves.

As well as handbags, items high on people’s secret shopping lists were expensive shoes, CDs, DVDs, books, clothes, alcohol and cigarettes.

Men were found to be less prone to illicit shopping trips, with only 55 per cent of male respondents stating they have a secret spending habit.

One woman who took part in the poll revealed her love for designer handbags. She stated: “Handbags – I can’t get enough of them especially designer bags. Whenever I walk past a shop and I see a bag I love, I immediately think I must have it. My husband used to blow his top every time I walked through the door with a new one so now I leave them in the car boot and only bring them into the house when he’s out.”

Meanwhile, responding to the findings, a spokesperson from NetVoucherCodes.co.uk said: “I am staggered by the percentage of people who buy goods without their partner’s knowledge. However with the rise in online shopping and sites being available on tablets and on phones, it has become increasingly difficult to stay away from the shops.”

These days, consumers have plenty of choice when they are on the lookout for products. Whether they want bags or anything else, they can head online and peruse the array of goods available or they can take a trip to their local high street or shopping centre.
